Three Ways Payday HCM Can Assist Your Business With Background Checks
August 8th, 2025 | 4 min. read

Congratulations on hiring a new employee! Finally, after days and days of writing a job description, posting on online job boards, interviewing candidates, and negotiating offer letters, you’ve finally found the candidate that is perfect for the position. Once the dust settles, though, and the celebrating comes to an end, you remember that the real hard work has only just begun—now, you must begin the onboarding process. For some businesses, onboarding is easy, just a few electronic signatures, and you're good to go. For others, however, onboarding can be a laborious process, taking what should be a bright moment both for your business and for your new employee and changing it into an endless string of emails, phone calls, and half-completed documents.
At Payday HCM, we’re very familiar with the pitfalls of a traditional onboarding process. We’re constantly receiving questions from clients on what they can do to streamline their processes so that they can get their new employee onboarded and ready to work. The answer to this question is going to vary from business to business, as not every business handles onboarding in quite the same way. Some businesses, for example, will require new or prospective employees to complete background checks. This is a simple enough process, but it can create unnecessary roadblocks.
That’s why, in this article, we’ll be going over the three ways that Payday HCM can help your business generate background checks. Our Client Service Manager, Stephanie Landrum, will walk you through the three different methods, which include:
By the end of this article, you’ll have a better understanding of how Payday can help take your current onboarding process and transform it into something more efficient and effective.
National Crime Search
First up on our list of background check methods available for our clients, we have National Crime Search
Payday HCM, National Crime Search Partnership
For our first option available to our clients, we’ve partnered with National Crime Search to offer a background check service that not only provides you with the background checks you need, but also keeps the control in your hands. This way, businesses can receive a trusted solution while maintaining complete control over their onboarding process.
National Crime Search offers a variety of background check services, including employment and drug screenings. National Crime Search offers per-search pricing for businesses looking to perform fewer than 12 checks a year: their basic employment background check starts at $29.95 per search. They also offer a variety of drug screening options starting at $43.
Who is National Crime Search Best For?
Businesses looking to retain control over their onboarding and preemployment screening processes, but who are unsure of where to start, can benefit from Payday’s partnerships with National Crime Search. This way, you’ll receive services from a trusted platform while still being able to keep total control of your organization’s onboarding process.
Businesses that are also looking for the most affordable option when it comes to background checks can also benefit from Payday’s partnership with National Crime Search. Given the low barrier to entry and client involvement in controlling the background check initiation, this option comes in with the lowest price point.
Accurate Background
Next, we’ll go over Payday’s background check services through Accurate Background and which businesses would benefit most from this service option.
Let Payday Handle Your Background Checks with Accurate Background
Some businesses may be looking for a less hands-on approach when it comes to their background checks, entrusting the process to a trusted service provider. This is where Accurate Background and Payday HCM comes in. With this option, clients can entrust Payday to perform their background checks through the Accurate Background service.
With this option, clients have their new employee fill out a form with basic information necessary to perform the background check. This is then securely sent to our HR experts, who will perform the background check through Accurate Background. We will then send the results back to the client whenever the background check is finished.
What Businesses Should Go with Accurate Background?
This service option is best suited for businesses that are looking to outsource their background check process while still ensuring that their background checks are being performed and handled correctly. Here, Payday’s in-house HR experts will handle your business’s background checks, allowing you to spend more time focusing on other aspects of the onboarding process.
When it comes to pricing, this option sits between the National Crime Search service option and the ProScreening option we discuss in the section just after this one. On top of this, this service option is particularly convenient for payroll clients looking solely for a background check service, as the cost of the background check is billed with the rest of your payroll services.
ProScreening
Finally, we’ll go over the third service option available to Payday clients when it comes to background checks: ProScreening through isolved.
Seamless Integration with ProScreening and isolved
For businesses looking for a solution that combines the ease of outsourcing the background check process with the level of control that more in-house background check services provide, ProScreening with isolved might be the best solution. Here, ProScreening allows you to provide background checks directly within isolved—the HCM software used by Payday clients.
ProScreening is seamlessly integrated within isolved’s applicant tracking system, allowing clients to run their entire hiring process—from the initial job posting to the final onboarding tasks—through isolved, without the need for other platforms. This service is offered as an additional add-on when businesses opt to work with Payday.
Which Businesses Will Benefit from ProScreening Through isolved?
For some of our clients, they are looking for a background check service that’s both easy to access and use while ensuring they remain in control of the process. With ProScreening’s background check services available through isolved, you can get the best of both worlds, allowing you to outsource your background checks while still remaining in control of the onboarding process.
Given the combination of convenience and control that comes with using ProScreening through isolved, this option comes out to be the most expensive of the three. Of course, with the higher price tag comes a higher level of usability and convenience—for businesses looking for the most streamlined service that provides the least amount of disruption to their current process, using ProScreening through isolved might be the best choice.
Doing Background Checks on Background Check Services
Hiring a new employee can be an extraordinarily exciting time for a business. Of course, without the proper systems in place, it can also prove to be unnecessarily stressful. When you bring on a new team member, you don’t want the time and stress of onboarding to keep them from starting any later than they need to. When it comes to background checks, they can prove to be one part of the process that, while necessary for some businesses, can also provide some of the most roadblocks. With the options discussed in this article, though, businesses can help take some of the stress out of onboarding and put their attention back on making the onboarding process as smooth as possible.
Onboarding employees is one of the more essential functions for any HR department. Even still, it’s possible that your business’s onboarding process isn’t as efficient as it could be. With Payday HCM, we can help transform your current onboarding process so that you can spend less time onboarding your employees and more time focusing on making your business better.
